What is an EAP?

Your EAP is a problem solving resource that can help with personal problems or issues of concern to you.

What does it do?

Your EAP provides a professional counselor to listen and

  1. help define the problem clearly,
  2. assess the type of help needed,
  3. either provide the required help or make the most appropriate,cost-effective referral for you.

How much does it cost?

Absolutely nothing . . . your only investment is your time. This is a benefit provided to you by your company.

When is it available?

Immediately! Twenty-four hours a day, every day of the year.

Who can use it?

You Dependents eligible for coverage under your insurance Your spouse or significant other and other family members living with you

How does it work?

Simply pick up the phone and dial 1-800-634-6433 (toll-free United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico) and ask to speak with a counselor.

If you want, you can use the EAP anonymously. All information given to the EAP is strictly confidential, with the following exceptions:

  • Probable or imminent risk of suicide
  • Probable or imminent risk of homicide or grave physical threat to another person
  • Possible abuse or neglect of a child or vulnerable adult
  • Probable threat to national security

Should these situations occur, the EAP is obligated to notify the proper authorities.

Your employer does not have access to your EAP records.
